Learning and Development Consultant

AssessTech has an opening for someone to join the Learning and Development Team.

AssessTech Ltd has a Learning and Development department that is also an accredited City and Guilds Centre. We offer a range of training courses in subjects relating to the railway, many of which result in Non-Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). We are subject matter experts in Assessment, Verification, Incident Management and Incident Response as well as Learning and Development specialists.  We believe that mentoring and supporting learners is paramount to our success.

Role

The objective of the Learning and Development Consultant’s role is to deliver training across the AssessTech training course portfolio and support learners throughout their training journey. 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivery of training, online and in-person
  • Mentorship of candidates, including the marking of assignments submitted on our online Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Conducting workplace assessments
  • Acting as a consultant or subject matter expert on customer projects related to competence management or learning and development
  • Participating in standardisation activities to improve training course content and/or make new offerings

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for this role:

  • Level 3 Award in Assessing
  • Level 3 certificate in Learning and Development (or equivalent)

It would also be desirable to have:

  • Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)

Skills and Experience

The following are essential for this role:

  • Experience working in an operational role on the railway
  • Experience delivering training, preferably on the railway
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Basic IT skills (email, word, excel and Powerpoint)
  • Must be personable, professional, well organised and diligent, with a flexible can-do attitude

The following are desirable, but not essential as training can be given to a candidate that’s a good match for the role:

  • Competence in any of the safety critical roles on the Railway (Driver, Guard, Train Dispatch, etc.) even if this competence has lapsed
  • TOLO, SIO or control room experience
  • Experience using electronic competence management system and/or online Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Location

The position is home-based. Whilst many courses can be delivered remotely, you will be required to regularly travel to customer locations, which can be anywhere in the UK. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by AssessTech.

Package

  • Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • 20 days Annual Leave (plus bank holidays)
  • 40 hours/week
