A Risk-Based Training Needs Analysis (RBTNA) is an exercise that looks into the nature of a job in order to identify how risks associated with tasks can be minimised, and support decisions about how to best manage competence.  It can be used to support activities to design training programmes, write Performance Criteria or compose the competence management cycle.  It will give metrics that can be used to determine  how and how often tasks should be looked at as part of the Assessment process.
