In one of the hottest summers England has experienced in years 8 individuals representing West Midlands Trains (WMT) are cycling a combined 1064 miles from Whitehaven in the Lake District to Whitely Bay in Tyne and Wear.

The team including Adrian Champion Head of Operational Standards at West Midlands Trains are all keen cyclists and are looking forward to the challenge and the route, taking in the epic scenery – and gradients – of the Northern Pennines and the Lake District.

The WMT Bonkers Bikers are raising money for the Railway Children charity, a charity close to their hearts.  Every year thousands of children across the UK, India and East Africa run away or are forced to leave homes that have become unbearable through poverty, abuse, violence and neglect. Railway Children provide protection and opportunity for children with nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to.
