Benefits of undertaking the Assessors Qualification as a candidate

We recently spoke with David Craigie, Senior Conductor Operations Competence Manager at Grand Central Rail about how the Assessor Qualification training course has helped in his new role.

Here is what he had to say…

Why did you decide to do the course?

I was offered a new role as Senior Conductor Operations Competence Manager at Grand Central last year which meant that I had to assess and train others as part of my day-to-day job. To ensure I could deliver the role correctly, I needed to undertake the Assessor Qualification.

What made you choose AssessTech?

In my previous role at Grand Central, we were looking for a company to provide a competence management system for us and from our due diligence identified that AssessTech’s eCMS met all our criteria.  Their reputation for training was as good as their software so I felt they were the right company for me to choose to undertake the qualification.

How did you find the course?

Much of the course was self-explanatory but it was good to go over all the elements in detail.  Even a refresher to ensure I could correct my references against a set of standards and the importance of understanding the standards and referencing them on the assessment were extremely useful learnings.

How has the course helped you in your day-to-day job?

This course has been essential for me to undertake my new role.  It has provided the grounding to assess and train others and manage their competence effectively.

Would you recommend it to others?

Definitely.  AssessTech were the right company to help me secure my City and Guilds qualification.  The trainer Katrina was very knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful.  Workload meant I couldn’t always provide evidence as quickly as I wanted, but AssessTech were brilliant and completely flexible, supporting me at every stage to ensure I got through. I would recommend AssessTech to anyone wanting to take on this qualification as they are a professional company and their training courses are current and tailored 100% to the railway industry.
